815 04:25
Meet me at three at Union Station I'll have another smoke while you steal the conversation Tell me how you never got to be what you wanted Tell me once again why the hell I came here Nothing ever changes Quarter past two and the bar is closing The same one we found when we were far too young She's still so pretty but she's having trouble walking straight I try to help her out but now her skin's too tough Everything is changing

"Do you ever think we got left behind?" You're spilling out your heart again As you have another drink, you say "life's unkind, and we'll never have it figured out" We've been here before, I'll ask you once You say you never want a boyfriend And I say "Where to, love?" "Wherever you want" And all the boys are calling up, calling her crazy I'm falling in love with her maybe All the boys are wrong But maybe I'm crazy "Wouldn't you agree, we've got all this time to sort it out and settle down?" As we stumble off the street and pace crooked lines Then crash into your room again Now we lay on your floor, our eyes wide shut You say, "this place has never been home" And I say, "where to, love? Wherever you want" "Just don't wait up if I decide to go" And all the boys are calling up, calling her crazy I'm falling in love with her maybe All the boys are wrong But maybe I'm crazy We'll never sort it out, we'll never settle down You'll never look at me the way you look at leaving town We'll never sort it out, we'll never settle down You'll never look at me the way I do you

Take It All 02:51
When you call my name, it sounds like you're dying And I remember this place, a little less innocent these days Now you're crawling back in and hiding in your corner I've never seen you crying like that, never again And I watch you take it all Then I'm gonna run away Go ahead and take it all Know you'll never breathe again There's a desperate shake as you feign a promise And I wanna feel safe, but the memory can never be replaced Now the sirens flash in through the windows in the foyer They're here to watch you blame it on us all over again And I watch you take it all Then I'm gonna run away Go ahead and take it all Know you'll never breathe again

A Beginning 04:09
Take a look at my face as I'm falling She says everything's been the same Just a little worse Now I wanna know what brought you here You look familiar but I can't be sure Why don't you tell me your name and tell me your story? Where are you from, and where are you going? You wake me up, say you're leaving and tell me to follow I'll follow Where are you from, and where are you going? As of late my head is so heavy As you whisper, "You know I'm so tired of living how I'm told" Because there's nothing worse Now I wanna go somewhere I've never been Well I'm ready to run when you say when Why don't you tell me your name and tell me your story? Where are you from, and where are you going? You wake me up, say you're leaving and tell me to follow I'll follow Where are you from, and where are you going? We'll run We'll run to a beginning

about

First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to give 815 a listen.

This record began two years ago while I was in the middle of my time in film school. A couple of years removed from any involvement in music, it felt like the time was right for a fresh start and new perspective. For writing, I traded my guitar for a piano, and rather than capturing moments in time, sought to weave a narrative that would encapsulate my life up through my mid-twenties. I poured as much of myself into these songs as possible: the pop music I grew up listening to, the punk and indie rock that shaped my adolescence, my love of film, my successes, my failures, my friends, my family, my fears, and my hopes for the future. Russ (Miller, Producer) and I worked tirelessly to breathe life and meaning into these songs, and what we ended up with, I can only describe as the soundtrack to my life up until that point.

This record helped me to come to terms with the inevitability of what we all must face- growing up-and how to answer when life asks us who we are going to be become.

Again, thank you for listening, and I hope these songs help to guide you as you write your own story.

Love,

Marc
